Mr. Hernandez has a dual role at Fannie Mae that centers on homeowners’ ability to secure and sustain affordable housing. As Vice President of Housing Access, he plays a role in expanding access to mortgage credit along with tracking and reporting our affordable housing achievements to our regulator and Congress.

In his role leading Fannie Mae’s Disaster Response & Rebuild efforts, he takes a multifaceted approach to response and rebuilding, with a goal of creating better outcomes for those impacted by disaster. His team promotes resiliency and long-term housing recovery through market-based engagements, partnerships that provide aid, such as Fannie Mae’s Disaster Response Network™, and innovative financing solutions that expedite the rebuilding of communities.

Mr. Hernandez, who joined Fannie Mae in 1993, has held four vice president-level positions throughout the enterprise that have prepared him to serve in his current position. Most recently, he served as the Vice President of Marketing, Communication, and Regulatory Reporting and Vice President of Data, Reporting, and Communications, supporting the enterprise’s multifamily business.

Prior to joining Fannie Mae, Mr. Hernandez served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Single-Family Housing with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Washington, D.C. Earlier in his career, Hernandez served as Vice President of Commercial Real Estate with NationsBank where he oversaw the origination and servicing of a $200 million portfolio.

Mr. Hernandez has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX.
